Days 66 through 69 of the 365 Day Photo Project

Thursday I went with some pals to see The Louise Heck-Rabi One Act Festival at the Studio Theater.  We opted for Honest John's in Detroit for dinner.  (Honest John's Bar & Grill. Pub Food, American; 488 Selden St , Detroit 48201) I love that place.  It's got great bar food and the atmosphere of the place just embraces the ambiance of Detroit.  It's c[...]

Days 50 through 65 of the 365 day photo project - Whew!

The last 16 days have flown away and I don't have a clue where they went.  I have managed to keep up with my goal of a photo a day, and I'm pretty proud of that even if some of the photos aren't all that great.  They're terrific reminders of what has happened to be over the course of this year's almost finished first quarter.  On Day 50, I froze my butt [...]

Day 49 of the 365 Day Photo Project - A pair of pears

I felt like doing a still life today and the pears sitting in a bowl on the kitchen counter looked promising.  I dragged out the camera, tripod, diffuser, flash and set up my "studio" in the kitchen.  Processed it in Snapseed.  I like the way it turned out.  This one's the official photo of the day, but I like the other one here as well.  Tea time - red hibi[...]

Days 42 through 48 of the 365 day project

It's been a very strange week.  I took a couple of these photos with my phone, others with the D7000.  All were processed in LR4.  Not much else to say about this week except I'm glad it's over, and I did manage to get a photo a day. At least listening to vintage Queen got me through the processing and uploading.  If I had to choose a title from their bo[...]

Day 41 - Jack Frost nipping at my . . . lantern

First thing this morning, while my breakfast was getting cold, I spotted some frost on the lantern - the one I use to feed Rusty.  Of course, clad in pajamas and bare feet, I had to run get the camera and then run back outside to shoot the frost.  The picture was a mess - full of rust spots and not a lot of contrast.  So, time to sharpen up my Photoshop sk[...]

Days 39 and 40 of the 365 day photo project - snow days

Since yesterday was such a snowy day, we had a lot of activity at the bird feeder.  A red bellied woodpecker, mourning doves, blue jays, starlings, sparrows, dark-eyed juncos, and the cardinals showed up for the free food.  Ms. Cardinal finally posed for me so I could get a decent shot of her.  It's about time; I've been trying to get one for ages. [...]

Day 38 of the 365 day photo project - Rusty the Red Squirrel

We have two red squirrels (Tamiasciurus hudsonicus) that frequent our property.  They like the droppings from the bird feeder (not the what the birds eliminate after eating, please understand) and they LOVE the Barbara's Peanut Butter Puffins cereal that I get for them at Trader Joe's. Some background on the cereal is in order.  I bought a box of the puffin[...]

Days 29 through 37 of the 365 day photo project

Well, I'm keeping up with taking the photos but I'm not doing so well on keeping up with this blog.  Nothing new about that though.  At this time of the evening, I'll just have to let the photos speak for themselves.  Each one has a story, but I'm too tired to tell them all.  Just make up what you want about them.  :-)

Days 25, 26, 27 and 28 of the 365 day photo project

Friday, the 25th day, I couldn't resist the crochet string.  It's been sitting around my house for ages and I haven't done a thing with it.  I figured I might as well put it to use.  I love the colors and the lines in this one.On the 26th, we left to drive to Munising, in the eastern Upper Peninsula.  Riding in the car with nothing to do but knit or look[...]

Days 22, 23 and 24 of the 365 day photo project - Around the house

The past week hasn't been a great one.  Matt has been sick so we've been watching him.  Day care doesn't want sick kids and who can blame them?  I've also been under the weather so finding energy and inspiration to take photos has been at a low ebb.  Mrs. Cardinal is always a good subject when she'll sit still long enough, and Tuesday she was pretty cooper[...]
