Joke for today

An acquaintance sent me this joke the other day.   The picture in my head was so vivid I couldn't stop laughing.  I laughed for a minute at least. I was on the subway, sitting on a newspaper, and a guy comes over and asks, "Are you reading that?" I didn't know what to say. So I said, "Yes," stood up, turned the page, and sat down again.

Went to the Autorama at Cobo Hall Friday night for the first time in probably a million years.  Quite a sight/site to see.  A superb contrast to the comings and goings of Ajijic (but thatwill be another post on another day). Anyway, son-in-law Jimmy has his 1963 Biscayne (aka the second-coming of the Bob-lo boat) on display at the show.  Jill and her friend[...]

Wednesday in Ajijic

First, hurrah!  The Saints won. Monday was a gorgeous day in Royal Oak--sunny, no snow, and not too cold.  After we finished packing, we took the dogs for their field run.  Last one for them until we return.  Gayle drove us to Flint airport.  Operating on Detroit Metro time, we got to Flint an hour earlier than necessary.  Where DTW needs you to be there [...]

Super Bowl Sunday

February 7 – Super Bowl Sunday for all you football fans out there.  Although I’m not a football fan at all,  I’m hoping the New Orleans Saints win.  A win for the Saints is a win for the Big Easy.  It needs a positive stroke, and I like NOLA.  I doubt I’ll watch the game, but mentally I’ll be cheering for them.  Besides, packing my bags takes priority. As [...]

The corner garden depresses me.  I can see that as soon as the weather gets milder, Al and I have a lot of work to do in the yard. The English ivy looks like lettuce that froze overnight; the hellebores droop woefully.  The akebia vine, still coiled around the trellis, has one hopeful “arm” stretched skyward – maybe beckoning Spring to come sooner than March[...]

Radar on stake-out

As usual this morning, Radar staked himself out under the shrubs in the back yard.  His line of sight includes the bird feeder which at this time of year is literally hopping with juncos, sparrows, pigeons (well, they don't hop), cardinals, and house sparrows.  Fortunately or unfortunately--depending on your point of view, the cat with no front claws gets a [...]

Hello, bon jour, buenos dias, bon giorno, & guten tag

Welcome to the water closet werks.  I'm new here and just starting to try and figure out how to work all this technological stuff.  So, for right now, consider my site under construction with more to come as I get familiar with all the goodies.
